Workplace Readiness

By the time students graduate, they are often proficient in their chosen fields of study, yet they may lack the basic skills needed to thrive in a professional environment. As they transition from academia to the workplace, young adults are expected to navigate complex dynamics, meet deadlines, and work effectively in teams. It’s common for young adults to either emulate their parents’ work habits, rebel against them, or find a balance between the two. Missteps made during the early years of their careers can have long-lasting impacts on their professional growth and can be difficult to rectify.

In these classes, we’ll discuss openly about what constitutes workplace readiness, the importance of professionalism, and the skills needed to succeed in today’s dynamic work environment. We’ll delve into topics such as effective communication, work etiquette, time management, teamwork, and problem-solving, among others. Our goal is to equip students with the tools they need to navigate the professional world with confidence and competence.

Topics Include:

  • Communication
  • Cooperation
  • Time management
  • Negotiation
  • Networking
  • Stress tolerance
  • Leadership
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Cultural competency
