Our Classes
Financial Literacy
By high school, most students are adept at algebra and calculus, but still may not know how to balance a checkbook, how to calculate their yearly budget, or understand the concept of compounding interest on a credit card. During these pivotal years, young adults transition from their parents making most financial decisions to self reliance and independence. It’s common for young adults to mirror their parents’ relationship with money, to rebel against it, or a little of both. Avoidable mistakes made during teen years and in the young 20’s often set students up for a lifetime of debt that they can’t easily recover from.
In these classes, we’ll talk candidly about what money is, how it works, and the importance of fiscal responsibility. Financial Literacy sets the stage for what comes next: building workplace readiness.
